Best Sony Xperia Play games

Sony promised to bring the Playstation experience to the Android platform which became the  Sony Xperia Play. By and large the Xperia play has delivered with the hardware with buttons that can take abuse and great analog controllers. But a gaming system is nothing without a good set of games and though the Play can use existing Android games, they do not make use of the Play’s unique hardware. Games have to be built to use the special Play controls and graphics. Here are the best Sony Xperia Play games that give the true action experience experience.

Dungeon Defender: Second Wave

Dungeon Defender: First wave has been one of the hottest android games. Dungeon defender franchise is a mix tower defense game and a first person action game. Your goal is to set up defenses as well as race around the map to kill off monsters. The second wave improves upon the franchise and also adds the Xperia play controls. This addresses the one weak point of the game which is the confusing on screen controls. For gamers familiar with the original, the button controls makes a big difference in game play.

Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee is a classic fighting game created from the ground up for the Xperia Play. Prior fighting games have not worked on the Android platform mostly because the touch controls makes it very difficult to create “button combinations”. The Play’s physical buttons solve the problem, producing possibly the first truly enjoyable fighting game. The movements are based on real motion capture of authentic Bruce Lee moves and the graphics take full advantage of the Play’s graphics.

Brothers in Arms: Global Front

When the Xperia Play was first announced, almost everyone’s first thought was “yeah now we can get a decent first person shooter”. Brothers in Arms:Global Front does not fail to deliver. Along with Splinter Cell Conviction, Brothers takes full advantage of the Play controls. Movement is fast and response times are quick. Though the game plot is very linear, the graphics and action are first rate. The game looks great without all of the virtual controls cluttering the screen.

Asphalt 6: Adrenaline
asphalt 6 Gameloft has ported their latest racing game to the Xperia Play. The game lets you race customized cars on 12 exotic tracks. This version allows you to use the Play controls versus the tilt controls which gives superior reaction time. The best part is that Asphalt 6 allows up to six players to play head to head and you can blow away your non-Xperia Play enabled friends.

Tetris
Yes Tetris. If you have every tried to play the classic game with a touch screen you know what I mean. Some puzzle games work great with a touch screen like Soduku, but for others you need a tactile feel of buttons. Tetris is one of those games and while it may never be a blockbuster again, the game is sooo much more fun on the Play that it is worth having to pass some spare time.
